Travel In Good Spirits

What if the road less travelled wasn’t a road at all. Take the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Manitoulin Island and reconnect with untouched Canadian landscapes, gorgeous open water, rich First Nations culture and a place where legends were born.

Just newly refreshed, the Chi-Cheemaun is a passenger and vehicle ferry, capable of transporting 600 people and over 14 vehicles in one trip. Offering daily crossings from May to October, the Chi-Cheemaun can be your gateway to beautiful Northern Ontario as an excellent alternative to long highway driving and the link in the Georgian Bay Coastal route with spectacular 360 degree views of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

During the 1 hour and 45 minute sail there are many fantastic onboard experiences offered. By night join us for one of our scheduled gourmet Sunset Dinner Cruises or be entertained by award-winning Canadian musicians at one of the specialty Dinner Cruise & Concerts. You can also be taken away on a guided tour of the brilliant star studded night sky; learning about both Greek and first Nation Constellations, under the darkest skies in southwestern Ontario. The Chi-Cheemaun’s Stargazers’ Delight Tour is inclusive with ferry fare and is offered nightly, excluding Thursdays, the whole month of August. Special guest, The Perseid Meteor Shower, will make an appearance mid-month and the night sky will be illuminated with fast moving meteors.

Day cruising is equally as enticing. Passengers can relax on the outside decks and take in the expansive countryside, learn about the UNESCO Biosphere & Fathom Five National Marine Park in which they are sailing through or take part in interactive Traditional Storytelling, Singing & Drumming workshops with Falcon Migwans.

Don’t let you vacation plans end with summer. Take a trip north in the fall and witness the blazing fall colours of the rugged Niagara Escarpment landscape while enjoying the tranquility that surrounds you. Make the Chi-Cheemaun ferry part of your next Ontario adventure and ‘Travel In Good Spirits.’
