Come face to face with history at The National Civil War Museum! This is one of the largest museums in the nation that covers the entire American Civil War from beginning to end. We bring history to life with outstanding collections of Union and Confederate artifacts, high definition videos, and life-size mannequins. The self-guided tour includes seventeen galleries of inspiring, balanced presentations. A panoramic view of Harrisburg and the magnificent Grand Rotunda add to the unique ambiance of this inspirational setting.
In addition to our permanent exhibit space, we are pleased to offer temporary exhibits curated to highlight specific aspects of the American Civil War. This summer, our newest temporary exhibit opens, Boots and Saddles: Horses in the Civil War, on display through June 7, 2020. Horses were indispensable during the four year war and as the war moved relentlessly forward, horses would be instrumental in the outcome of countless battles and skirmishes.
Open 361 days a year, we offer expanded seasonal hours of operation, free parking, handicap access, and a fine gift shop, stocked with an outstanding selection of books and merchandise. Plan your visit today!
